3rd Annual Lazy Gramophone Festival

In Support of CALM

The art collective, Lazy Gramophone, produced another roaring success in the form of their third annual festival held on 3 May 2009, with profits going to CALM.

The day brought together music, spoken word, theatre, comedy, DJs, body painting, sweets and a damn fine vibe. Some of the best of the UK’s spoken word talent turned out including Mat Lloyd, Excentral Tempest, Guy J Jackson and Inua Ellams. Comedy shenanigans from Martin White and outstanding music sets from Sound of Rum, Benin City, Jono McCleery, Simon Gibson, Kevin Molloy and Ventriloquist were among the highlights. DJ sets from Mr. Jonny and Le Crepe played on as the sun went down to finish up this unique all day event – click here to see the day in pictures (Photographer, Kim-Leng Hills).

Lazy Gramophone works tirelessly to support developing and established artists across many disciplines of the arts world through demonstrating, at events like these, how vibrant and alive the spoken word (and the alternative music scene) is. The 4th Annual Lazy Gramophone Festival is scheduled for the first May bank holiday 2010, the launch of the new website is pencilled in for the autumn and the release of their fourth book, Apertures, is imminent.

Other dates for the diary; Love in the Sky at the ICA, 30 June where artists Dan Prescott and Matt Black will have some treats in store.
