Watch the Truthloader Debate on Male Suicide
17th January 2013
Why are so many young men killing themselves?
Following the tragic death of online activist Aaron Swartz last week, CALM Director, Jane Powell, joined a panel of experts for a live ITN Truthloader discussion about young male suicide. You can watch the full debate here via the Truthloader YouTube channel.

Goodbye Aaron. The world is mourning for you. It is a tragedy that not enough people realised the injustice being done to you until it was too late. We have lost another tremendously gifted and talented young man, at a time when we really need more like you. The world will not be the same without you. We must do something to stop losing more like you.
Us guys aren’t naturally the most forthcoming about dealing with pressure and often bottle our problems up. It’s really encouraging that there is a charity like CALM to offer the help and support that a lot of men need when they feel low.
Callers can talk through any issue, we’ll listen and offer information and signposting. Calls are anonymous and confidential and calls/texts won’t show up on your phone bill.

Any financial support you can give is hugely appreciated. We aren't funded by Government, and frankly struggle for every penny to keep our helpline going. We've recently been able to expand our helpline opening hours to seven days a week, and that was purely down to public donations. It costs us about £3,500 to run the helpline for a week as is, so if you can give even a little regularly, that would be fantastic. Huge thanks.
