We offer confidential, anonymous and free support, information and signposting to men anywhere in the UK through our helpline. Calls are taken by trained and skilled helpline workers who will listen empathetically, inform appropriately and signpost accurately with the aim to improve the mental well-being of the caller. This service is caller led, confidential and anonymous. We also offer an SMS texting service in London & Merseyside. We currently take approximately 3,000 calls per month during service hours. Please be aware that the CALM helpline does not offer a counselling service and agency phone numbers given out to callers by helpline staff may not be freephone numbers, so please check before calling.

Unfortunately, not all calls from mobile networks are free to our 0800 helpline number (further details below). We are keen to find out exactly which networks are charging for calls and how much, so if you have been charged for a call to either our 0800 or 0808 numbers and want to help us push network providers to stop charging, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with details of which mobile network you called from, date of call, length of call and how much the call cost. Email addresses and content of messages will be treated confidentially and used purely for information purposes within CALM. No identifying information will be shared to third parties.
CALM is a member of Helplines Partnership (formally MHHP Mental Health Helplines Partnership and THA The Helplines Association) as well as being a founder member of the Youth Helplines Network. CALM’s helpline has previously been accredited by MHHP and is currently undertaking the The Helplines Standard accreditation process. CALM is also a member of TASC, The Association of Suicide prevention Charities and is part of the Samaritans ‘Call to Action’.Our National helpline is open 7 days a week, 5pm to midnight. Callers can talk through any issue, we’ll listen and offer information and signposting. Calls are anonymous & confidential and won’t show up on your phone bill. Calls are free from landlines, payphones and 3, Orange and Virgin mobile networks. Other mobile networks and supermarket brand sims may charge. We don’t charge for texts, but your network might. Our London helpline is open 7 days a week, 5pm to midnight. Callers can talk through any issue, listen and offer information and signposting. Both services are confidential and anonymous – calls and texts won’t show up on your phone bill. Calls are free from landlines, pay phones and EE, O2, 3, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin. Other networks, such as supermarket brand sims, may charge. We do not charge for texts to either our Merseyside or London texting service, but your network provider might charge.
