What's doing your head in?
Abuse
Whoever the victim is, rape is a totally horrifying, traumatic experience. Understandably, people find rape and sexual assault difficult to talk about. They feel embarrassed, ashamed, guilty or even to blame in some way.
Male rape is one of those things that never seem to be discussed in public. Many people don't even realise it exists. Men can also be the victims of sexual assault. Men who have suffered sexual abuse when younger can still be haunted by the memories years later.
There's an expectation put on men that they will be 'strong' and 'able to take care of themselves'. Often men who have been the victims of sexual attack - whether rape or an assault - feel that they are 'less' of a man because of it. It stirs up loads of other feelings of confusion and self doubt.
Confidence
You don't have to feel isolated or alone. You don't have to put up with what's happened. You can call CALM in total confidence. You can tell them whatever you like. They'll listen and can put you in touch with others who have been there - people who can offer real guidance and understanding.
