THE CALM LO▼E TRI▲NGLE – pt 2 Stephen Langstaff

Three of the best emerging talents from across the Liverpool music scene, come together to create a new piece of music, set to be streamed at on Valentines Day 2013.

In November we announced that we’d secured the hotly tipped and 2012 MOBO Unsung AWARD winner Esco Williams, Stephen Langstaff – rapidly becoming one of the UK’s most prolific singer/songwriters – and the legendary Liverpool-based DJ, record company boss and producer Anton Powers as CALM ambassadors.

Now we unveil THE CALM LO▼E TRI▲NGLE, teaming up with Bido Lito! Magazine to bring the three artists together to create a new piece of music for Valentines Day 2013. Esco Williams and Steven Langstaff spent a day in the legendary Motor Museum studios (the studio of choice for Arctic Monkeys, Ben Howard and Tribes) with producer Al Groves to record the main body of the song. Anton Powers will then lend his remix expertise to the final cut of the track.

When speaking to Liverpool music magazine Bido Lito! about the project, Stephen Langstaff said, “I’m excited about it. Esco’s got a great energy about him, and I like that. He’s got a soulful voice which I can relate to, but he’s also got the hip hop thing going. It will be good to get out of my comfort zone!”

Over the next three weeks, a series of documentary videos from the recording sessions will be streamed here on, as each of the artists share their experiences of the project. In this first installment, Esco Williams shares his early personal experiences of Valentines Day; “Valentines Day can be a reminder of a bad relationship gone wrong or the fact that you’re on your own. As a guy we always try to pretend that’s no big deal, but it is. If someone was to listen to this song and then reach out for someone to talk to, that’s what I would want.”

In the second instalment, Stephen Langstaff explains how the process of composing a song can be very cathartic; “It gets everything off your chest. Sometimes you writer something that just has to be written, because if you don’t write it you’ll go nuts. You just have to let it out.”
