Inmates of HMP Long Lartin ran 10k in memory of an inmate who took his life, and raised £486 for CALM…
On July 11th 2015 a group of 32 prisoners and staff participated in a charity run for CALM in memory of our friend, who took his own life earlier in the year. We ran 6 miles around a 5 a-side astro turf pitch (84 laps) on a nice summers day. Some found it harder than others but we all worked together and everybody managed to finish the run. We like to think that our friend would have been looking down smiling, and I’m sure on some occasions even laughing at us!
We took part in this charity event not just as a way to show our love for our friend but to also raise money for CALM. Hopefully the money that we have raised can be used to help others in tough times. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those members of staff and the people at CALM who helped facilitate our run, and we hope that it will inspire other to take part in their own events.
