CALM is shining a light on male suicide this Men’s Health Week with another ‘Mind The Chap’ event, taking place on Wedneday 14 June 2017.
CALM volunteers will man 12 central London tube stations and hand out thousands of limited-edition ‘Mind The Chap’ travelcard holders to busy London commuters during rush hour, spreading awareness that 12 men on average take their own lives every day in the UK.
On Wednesday, Londoners can look out for free travelcard holders at the following stations, at 08:00 – 10:00am and 16:30 – 18:30pm:
London Bridge, Liverpool Street, Victoria, Waterloo, Bank, Blackfriars, Farringdon, Green Park (morning only), Kings Cross, Holborn, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus
Additional travelcard holders will be distributed at Canary Wharf station on Thursday 15 June and Friday 16 June, between 16:30 – 18:30pm.
CALM CEO Simon Gunning said: “It’s incredibly important that we keep raising awareness of the fact that suicide is the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Over 55,000 Oyster Card holders have been handed out since the first Mind The Chap event in 2015, and CALM is proud to have a presence at London’s tube stations again this year.”
