Volunteer Week runs 1-7 June, so we’re shining a spotlight on these top folks to say thanks for all they do to support CALM. Big up you legends!
PHIL: MS FEARLESS
Phil’s our go-to volunteer if we need someone who’s up for anything and not afraid to get stuck in to any new challenge. We’ve all loved her dedication and drive to make an impact. She’s such a genuine person, can chat to anyone and is properly down to earth.
AXEL: THE CARETAKER
Axel is who you want to be with on your first CALM adventure. He’ll welcome you in to the fold, and make sure that everyone as a team has the most impact for CALM . And he’s always on time…well sometimes.
JEMMA: BEST NEWCOMER
Jemma deserves recognition for being a quietly confident volunteer. In the short time she’s been a volunteer she’s knocked on door of tattoists, Soho clubs and homeless hostels to get CALMzines stocked there, not an easy task for anyone. She’s taken it all in her stride and has been a lot of fun to have around.
Livi is our Insta Queen and has been working away on social media for a year and half. Quietly putting in the hours, but making sure our Instagram followers are squared up on all the CALM news. This is a tremendous cheers and thank you from all the team here for your hard work and support.
MACK: MR RELIABLE
Mack’s that volunteer we can always rely on. You can set your watch by him. He won’t leave you waiting in the rain with a soggy box of materials. He’ll be there when we need him and always with a positive attitude.
OCTOPUS: CORPORATE CHAMPS
Octopus are our mega-champs! Always there for us when we need them, providing endless support – standing in the pouring rain handing out oyster card holders, coming into our office to get our goods out, or pounding the streets of London to recruit new CALMzine stockists
THE CALM RUNNING MENTORS
This Volunteer Week we’re welcoming the following three brilliant volunteers, who are coming in to support the CALM Runners Crew and help us go the extra mile.
JO: CALM RUNNING MENTOR
What a woman! Jo went about her CALM marathon journey with a smile on her face… the whole time, even when she was running those 26.2 miles. Her positivity is infectious. especially in the face of such tough times. She has even decided to take on a Personal Training course after her marathon experience! She has been in the CALM fold for a while now contributing beautifully written articles for the website so we are delighted to continue as a running mentor.
GARETH: CALM RUNNING MENTOR
From the word go, Gareth gave ALL of himself to his marathon journey with CALM. He was in with his whole heart. He wore his reasons for supporting CALM proudly and shouted his support for us from the hill tops. He was determined to get the most out of this life-changing moment even with a broken coccyx! A true CALM hero. With his open and soulful nature, he is the perfect mentor.
HELEN: CALM RUNNING MENTOR
After completing her marathon in 7 hours in the sweltering heat in Brighton and coming all the way from France to cheer on our London Marathon runners, we couldn’t help but want to keep Helen in the CALM fold. She became the official ‘mother hen’ of our marathon WhatsApp group offering huge amounts so of encouragement, virtual hugs, lots of LOLs and the occasional dog pic. We are now all members of the Helen Morris fan club.

Massive thanks and congratulations to all our CALM British 10k runners!
