Looking for a way to take action for CALM in 2020? Volunteer for us and help deliver a little hopefulness for homelessness.
Want to walk off those mince pies you’ve been scoffing – and do something that will help save lives in the process? Well, let us tell you about Man Your Shelter.
Last year 440 people experiencing homelessness were recorded to have died. And suicide was among one of the biggest killers. That’s why earlier this year – partnering with Harry’s Grooming – we set up a dedicated number to serve the homeless community. So far it’s been a great success between July-October, we reached 30,580 people through our materials in homeless locations. But we want as many people to know about the helpline and our work as possible. That’s where you come in.
Man your Shelter (well, when we say shelter we also mean soup kitchens, day centres, food banks – and any other spaces that serve the homeless community) is all about our awesome volunteers (that’s you!) spreading the word about this unique service and growing awareness of CALM this festive season in your local area.
It’s really simple. We’ll send you a pack and you’ll help spread the message by providing these places with posters, stickers and other stuff that let people know if they need to talk to someone, our tailored helpline is here.
Here’s how it works in 7 easy steps:
STEP ONE: Fill in the form below to sign up. We’ll send you an email with instructions to order free materials once you’ve done this.
STEP TWO: Order your materials pack. We have a specially designed collection of assets from stickers to posters for you to circulate.
STEP THREE: Plan your drop off/route! See what centre/s are in your local area. This could be a designated shelter for the festive period, religious spaces or community centres – wherever you are comfortable.
STEP FOUR: Get your CALM volunteering t shirt on! You’ll look great.
STEP FIVE: Get out there and spread the word. Use your powers of persuasion to get the centres to display our posters and place our calling cards amongst lists of services.
STEP SIX: Reward yourself with a treat (or two…) You’ve done exercise and you’ve done good mate – you deserve it.
STEP SEVEN: Let us know how it went. We’ll be sending you another email where you can tell us where you went and also share your experience
Pretty simple, eh? Sign up now and start making a positive impact for those experiencing homelessness in your local area. So first step – fill in the form below:
