We’re at The Other Art Fair – your art could be too…

Are you an artist? Do you love CALM? (I mean, of course you do.) Would you like your work exhibited at The Other Art Fair in March? Well, you’ve found the absolute perfect place on the internet.

After the huge success of last year, the CALM Art Collective has once again been invited to be a part of The Other Art Fair between 19-22 March at The Old Truman Brewery off Brick Lane in London and we’d like to invite you to submit your work to exhibit with us!

This year we’d like you to respond to a brief based around the idea of ‘the journey’ you go on as an artist and the object that has inspired your work. We also go on a journey with mental health and, as in art, we gain greater understanding of ourselves by going through the process.

We’re also delighted that the brilliant Connor Brothers will be lending us their expertise and have agreed to judge the submissions. Mike of the Connor Brothers has also shared some words on an object that has inspired his work:

On my bookshelf at home there is a small carved wooden mushroom. My Dad made it for my Mum when they first started dating as teenagers. Growing up my family moved house frequently, sometimes several times in a single year. It’s the only object I remember always being there throughout my childhood, no matter which house we were in.

When, several years ago, my Dad died, Mum gave me that mushroom. To me it’s a reminder of my Dad’s love for my Mum and, along with her words, it inspired this picture.

Everyone has similar objects, something that evokes strong memories or feelings. For CALM’s The Other Art Fair exhibition we are asking people to pick an object that means something to them, and create an artwork inspired by that object. We’d also like you to send us a brief explanation of what the object and the corresponding artwork means to you.”

You heard the man! If you have a piece you want to submit (or want to create one) then take a look through the brief and submit yours before midnight on Sunday 1st March.

The brief is here. Happy submitting!

Have a good read of the FAQs which should have all the info you need – but if you still have any extra questions just fire them over to us

And remember, you don’t have to be an established artist – we want to see your creativity, the journey you’ve been on and a passion for what you’ve done. We can’t wait to see what you share.

While we’ve got your attention…
