30 October 2021: It’s time to unite against suicide
125 people take their own lives every week in the UK. That’s not ok. And it’s why we’re taking to the streets across the UK to walk against suicide.
We launched the Lost Hours Walk in 2019 to smash the silence around suicide and deal with grief differently and defiantly. Since then, over 3000 people have taken on a Lost Hours Walk, raising more than £500,000, and, vitally, raising awareness of CALM’s life-saving services.
In 2021, the Lost Hours Walk is back, and there’s two ways to get involved. Join thousands of others as we walk the city of London, or create your own walk for friends and family in a location of your choice.
Make Lost Hours Walk your own
Wherever you are, and whether you’ve lost someone to suicide, struggled with your own mental wellbeing, or want to smash the silence around suicide in the UK, be part of it. From 3 miles around your local park, to 20 miles in the UK’s capital, you decide what works for you, your friends, family and community.
If you’re looking for a challenge, something accessible for all ages and abilities, or a chance to collectively remember a friend or family member, make your Lost Hours Walk your own. Last year’s Lost Hours Walk saw hundreds of people walk in memory of those lost to suicide – by wearing their photo on a shirt, packing their favourite snacks, or listening to their most-loved album. This year, we invite you to do all that and more.
Forward, together, against suicide
By joining the Lost Hours Walk 2021, you’ll be joining hundreds of others, from Inverness to St Ives and everywhere in between, to challenge the stigma around suicide. We’ll be walking forward, united against struggling in silence, against being alone, and against living miserably.
Stuff you need to know:
The Lost Hours Walk is taking place across the UK this October. There are two ways to walk against suicide: Lost Hours Walk London and Lost Hours Walk Local.
Lost Hours Walk London: Choose to walk 10 or 20 miles at our Lost Hours Walk London event, starting in Greenwich. On the nights that the clocks go back, take in the atmosphere of the capital and light up the city as we walk against suicide.
Lost Hours Walk Local: Your Lost Hours Walk Local can be any distance and in any location. We suggest walking against suicide on October 30/1, as this is the day the clock goes back, but you can opt to take on your own Lost Hours Walk anytime during October or November.
Once you sign up for a Lost Hours Walk, you’ll be able to recruit friends and family to join you on your journey. And you’ll receive loads of information from us to help plan and prepare.
