Last night we launched Call For Help - a new campaign that connected our helpline to public spaces to show how common and life-changing calls to CALM can be.
Across London, Manchester and Birmingham a new CALM campaign connected our life-saving helpline to digital displays and billboards in busy, everyday public places, to share a hopeful message every time a call was answered.

Over 200 calls are answered by the CALM helpline daily, helping to prevent 675 suicides in 2018 alone. By showing the number of answered calls in real time, the campaign aimed to engage a wide public audience, and highlight CALM’s services to empower those in crisis to pick up the phone.

“I made that phone call to CALM and I thank them with all my heart because they saved my life. The team directed me to counselling, ensuring I was seeing a doctor consistently for 12 months, and introduced me to running. Running is my therapy – I’ve since completed five runs to raise money for CALM, including a British 10K, Chichester Half Marathon and Brighton Marathon.”

CALM are supporting more people than ever before through difficult moments in their lives. In 2018 CALM helped to prevent 675 suicides in 2018, a 58% increase year on year from 2017.
These numbers are encouraging, and growing demand for CALM’s services show that more people are starting to be open in the way they seek support. But there's much more to be done to create an open culture in which help-seeking is championed and normalised, so more people like Paul feel like they can make that life-saving call.
