This Wednesday the Best Man Project goes big! As part of our ongoing support of Heads Together, a group of CALM supporters, volunteers and some very familiar faces will meet The Duke Of Cambridge.
The Duke will join a fine group of men, including former professional footballer and pundit Rio Ferdinand, musician Loyle Carner, and radio and TV presenter Roman Kemp, to make a series of films celebrating the importance of friendship and its role in mental wellbeing.
Friendships and social connections can provide a lifeline for those in crisis, but recent research reveals men are much less likely than women to feel comfortable when a man they know opens up to them, and men’s social connections can wane over time. Isolation and loneliness is a growing problem, especially for men over 30. To celebrate the power of friendship, CALM launched the Best Man Project in collaboration with the great people at The Drum's 'Do It Day' in November 2017, with a film featuring three sets of regular pals tasked with doing what best men do best.
Joining the Best Man Project gives men a helping hand in being there for mates through good times and bad, with light-hearted tips, stories and all sorts of interesting and helpful stuff sent straight to your inbox.
"We know that support from friends can be invaluable and have a hugely positive effect on men’s wellbeing. Waning social connections and loneliness are a problem for men - especially over the age of 30 - and so CALM encourages a collaborative and connected approach in bringing people together and providing sustained support from our mates. Building and maintaining connections with others can be genuinely lifesaving for men."
Simon Gunning, CALM CEO
