Rikesh ‘RKZ’ Chauhan
Featured writerRKZ (pronounced ‘Ricks’) is a 23 year-old musician from Luton, England. He began his career in 2007 as a rapper – being influenced by Hip Hop from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. As his career developed, he began focusing more on vocal delivery and singing; and is now known for his skills as a singer-songwriter. His forté is very much nostalgic Hip Hop and R&B, occasionally fused with contemporary Dubstep.
In February 2012, RKZ was announced as a new ambassador for the Campaign Against Living Miserably. He worked closely with CALM in order to raise awareness of depression and suicide in young men around the UK, focused via his music and social media platforms. In 2013, his aim as a writer/contributor for CALM/CALMzine is to spread this awareness of depression within the Asian Community in Britain: an issue which poses serious threat, but is seldom discussed. After all, being silent isn’t being strong.
