The lowdown on the Lock In

Friday nights have changed for the foreseeable. But that doesn’t mean we can’t all have some fun.

If you’ve been wondering what to do with your weekends, well, we think the Lock In is the perfect thing for you. Join CALM and a cavalcade - yes, we said cavalcade - of stars live on Instagram Live for big names, big laughs and big tunes.

We’ve got everyone from Frank Turner and Oh Wonder through to Phil Wang and Kurupt FM joining us. We've even got Kem Cetinay and Chris Hughes doing a pub quiz. It's like the best Friday night out, all from the comfort of your front room. Just look at the line up (and we've got more to announce)...

From 5pm to midnight on Instagram Live you’ll be entertained by some of the best comedians, musicians and stars around, while you sit on the sofa. No queuing for drinks, no getting annoyed when people spill those drinks on you and no worrying about how to get home. Sounds pretty sweet, doesn’t it?

It's all hosted by the brilliant Vick Hope who'll be guiding you from pub quiz to huge laughs and on to some music - and you won’t have to move a muscle (well, apart from your thumbs).

Why are we doing this?

Well, things are weird right now (you’ve probably noticed) and we wanted an evening where we can get together (virtually), have a laugh, a dance or a pint to just try and chill out a little.

We also hope it’s a little reminder to everyone that if you’re struggling at the moment, we’re always here. The fact that the Lock In lasts from 5pm-midnight wasn’t an accident - we wanted people to remember that our helpline is here at that time every single day of the year. If you need to talk, our amazing helpline staff are on the other end of the line.

We know we’re needed now more than ever. We have seen a 37% increase in daily calls to our helpline since the first week of lockdown and we're currently speaking to a record number of people.

So if you love the Lock In, we’d love it if you could donate what you can to CALM to help us meet this demand. By donating the price of a virtual pint or G&T (this is the Lock In, after all), you can raise real money to help run CALM’s helpline.

You can donate here. It could be the money that funds a life-saving call.

Cheers - and enjoy the show! And a hashtag? Of course we've got one - and it's an easy one to remember: #CALMLockIn
