UK's biggest survey on impact of suicide

Have you been affected by suicide? The University of Manchester and the Support after Suicide Partnership (SASP) have launched a national suicide bereavement study on the impact of suicide in the UK.

The study is the largest ever piece of research into the effects of suicide and will lay the foundations for improved support for anyone affected.

In 2015, 6,188 people died by suicide in the UK. It is estimated between 6-60 people are profoundly affected by each death, yet the impact on those who are bereaved by suicide is poorly understood, despite our awareness that many of those bereaved are also significantly at risk of dying by suicide.
"Suicide has a devastating and lasting impact on peoples’ lives. This research will help to support our compelling case that everyone impacted by suicide should be proactively offered appropriate support. We are delighted to be collaborating with the University of Manchester on this vital, life changing research."
Chair of SASP, Hamish Elvidge

SASP and CALM would like as many people as possible to take part to improve our understanding of suicide bereavement, so we can improve the quality of support available across the country.

If you've been affected by suicide and would like to help, please consider taking twenty minutes to complete the anonymous online survey. Thank you.
