You might think a night of karaoke with your mates feels quite trivial. But this stuff matters.
Belonging, support, creating a buffer against the stress and shit of life. It really helps. And there’s science and studies to back it up. There’s even a term for what we’re talking about: ‘daily micro-celebrations’. It shows that doing these things that get you through help with lasting increases in happiness and reductions in depressive symptoms. So there you have it.
Go and do those things you love, because celebrating positive experiences - sharing joy - boosts positive emotion.
