It stands for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, a string of fancy words that basically means to replace unhealthy coping mechanisms with more effective ones.
DBT is built on a core idea, that two things can be true at once: You can accept yourself and your circumstances, while still working to change and grow. You can be buzzing for that night out, while also feeling social dread and looking for an excuse to stay home. It’s essentially about acceptance and change.
