Didn't get to celebrate his 20th birthday
My son Daniel was 19 when he died by suicide so we never got to celebrate his 20th Birthday. Daniel was as unique to us as his fingerprints. As Daniel got older, he started to struggle with his mental health. I wish I knew then what I know now, perhaps if I had I could have made him realise he wasn't alone in feeling that way, that many young people can struggle at times but that it's ok, it's normal, it's not unusual, it's ok to talk about it. it helps. It's OK to talk about suicide it's ok to ask for help. There is no shame in feeling this way.
