James
Didn't get to celebrate his 24th birthday
Liz: My son James didn't get to celebrate his 24th birthday. He was funny, had a great sense of humour and could be very witty. He was very loyal to his family and friends, but sadly he did experience periodic episodes of feeling very, very low.
What do I think this campaign would achieve? Well, I'm just hoping that it will impact on the number of lives that have been lost to suicide and the importance of being there for somebody even if they are going through a tough time. Just simply asking 'are you okay?' could be what it takes. I think having the courage to ask them if they feel suicidal or are having suicidal thoughts - I didn't do that and I now wish that I had.
Lizzie: He was my brother so, of course, he was incredibly annoying at times, but my overriding memories are of him laughing and just saying the silliest things. He was very funny, sometimes inappropriately, and he was always making people laugh.
One time I needed to go and collect a new car and so he came to Wales with me to pick up the car - and he spilled a whole milkshake on the front seat of the new car. It absolutely stank like milk for a long time. I was so furious at the time I ended up hitting a bollard on the way out! But later we laughed about it and it's still a favourite memory of mine now.
