Didn't get to celebrate her 22nd birthday
My sister Sophie didn't get to celebrate her 22nd birthday. She lit up every room she walked into, was always smiling and had an infectious laugh.
She was a great friend to many, really kind and empathetic. She would go out of her way to make sure people weren’t left out.
She was always making me laugh and we had so many fun times together, a lovely childhood and really wonderful memories. A more recent special memory was our first holiday together. Just the two of us went to Mallorca and had a great time. One of the things we did out there was get up at 4am to go and see dolphins, which is a beautiful memory to hold on to.
I hope this campaign will raise awareness of the number of young people we are losing to suicide every year. It is impacting so many people and we know it is preventable. I’d like to think this awareness will help us as a society to become better equipped to help young people so they don’t see suicide as their only option.
