This time of year can feel like a bit of a slog, so If you’re looking for some get-up-and-go, or just need something to take your mind off the dreary weather, why not do something to support CALM?
Since the first lockdown, our helpline has answered over a million minutes of potentially life-saving calls and chats. We’re needed now more than ever. So it doesn’t matter if your challenge is big or small, when it comes to doing something to support our vital services, you can literally do anything against living miserably.
Drop a donation
Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives, but just £8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call. The fastest way to support is by donating, it’s a simple way to take a stand against suicide and you don’t even have to lift a finger.
Take on a challenge for CALM
Fancy a challenge, or want to remember a loved one? Whether you run or cycle, skydive or score goals, there are heaps of ways to get involved and loads of inspiration on stuff you can do here. Pull on a CALM tee and run beachside in the Brighton Marathon, sign up to a 5k or take part in the Superhero Series. Keep your eyes on this page for upcoming events and we’ll be there to cheer you on from the sidelines.
If you’re feeling sociable or want an excuse to meet new faces, the CALM clubs are a top way to get stuck into a community of enthusiastic supporters. Whether you’re into running, football, art, or want to roll up your sleeves and start your own – clubs are a great way to do something against living miserably.
Stick it to Winter
We love those big meaty challenges – the marathons, triathlons and swimathons, but we’re just as keen for the off-the-wall ones. Shave your head, wear a false nose for a week, or see how many hot dogs you can eat in a minute, whatever you do, do it for CALM.
We want to hear how you’re planning to #StickItToWinter, so share what you’re up to on social media and get involved. Find out more on how to get involved here.
Sometimes a few stupid words can make all the difference. Because who doesn't love a good compliment?
Got a mate who’s having a hard time? Tell ‘em why you appreciate them or ping ‘em a Whatsapp to let them know you’re there. It doesn’t always have to be deep and meaningful. Just letting someone know you value them for being them could mean more than you think.
Live stream. Save lives.
Get your mates together for a Mario Kart marathon, share your famous sausage roll recipe, or break your push-up PB - whatever you stream, do something you love and unite your community against suicide.
The CALM streaming hub is full of ideas to help you go live and stream something epic online.
Keep up to date with what we’re up to
The CALM newsletter is packed full of good stuff, including ideas for getting involved.
We couldn’t do what we do without you. Our supporters have helped us to continue to be there for anyone who needs us, no matter what.
