Doing something for CALM? Let’s document it. Taking great photos helps inspire people to do their thing against living miserably. And according to Justgiving's perfect fundraising page checklist, adding great pictures could help boost your donations by 23%.
Here's our guide to help you prep, snap and share your journey. Let’s go.
1. Prep
A camera or smartphone will do a good job of capturing high quality pics and vids.
Make sure it's charged and there's plenty of memory left.
Got a gadget-mad pal? Why not enlist them to be your ‘official’ photographer?
The journey is just as important as the destination. Remember to capture a mix of moments before, during and after your activity.
We know some aspects of your activity will be tough – both physically and emotionally. Showing these tough parts can help connect with other people who have similar experiences.
Make sure everyone is happy to be in the picture and knows they're being shared on socials and sent to CALM.
2. Snap
The more the merrier. Try to capture loads of portraits of yourself and those around you, as well as the landscape and environment you're in.
Keep an eye out for the small details that helped make your activity easier or harder.
Got some of that bright, CALM-branded merch? Make sure you're wearing it in all its glory. The more sweat/mud drenched the better.
Use the camera in different ways. Hold it in portrait and landscape, and test out videos, slow-mo and timelapse modes for a bit of fun.
Don’t forget the flash if it gets dark.
Avoid using any effects or filters.
Get permission to share any photos or videos on social media and with CALM.
3. Share
Use social media to tell your story. Use Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook to show your journey and drive people to your fundraising page. We'll repost as many as we can.
If you share on social media, make sure to use #UnitedAgainstSuicide and tag us @calmzone
Share your images with us too – where we can we'll use them on our website and social media to help inspire others. Aim to share 3-5 images/videos with us.
Don’t worry about cropping or editing (we can do that).
Attach to an email/multiple emails and send to photos@thecalmzone.net with your event name in the subject line.
Make sure to select 'Actual Size' or 'Original Quality' so they arrive in their full glory.
4. THANK YOU
You're doing something properly special by supporting CALM and our services. By sharing your photos, videos and stories that impact is even bigger. Your snaps help inspire others to #UniteAgainstSuicide. Cheers. To. You.
