This was taken in early September on a beautiful sunny day. Alex had just returned to Aberystwyth for his final undergraduate year. We love this picture because that's Alex, he looks just like we remembered him looking: happy, relaxed, full of life for the future and wanting to get on with his dissertation.
The one thing that we didn't understand about Alex is that there was no sign he wanted to take his own life - that came completely out of the blue. We've spent 10 years trying to understand why he did what he did and the only thing we've concluded is what he wrote, which was that he didn't want to be around anymore.
