It’s good to talk

  • “Talk whenever you feel comfortable. You don’t want to feel like you’re under scrutiny. Go to the pub, go to their house, talk while you’re watching the football. Get a coffee. Go where there’s something else to do if you get embarrassed.”

  • "When I suffered with my mental health, I didn’t know who I could tell and I felt so trapped. I didn’t tell anyone how I was feeling because I felt too embarrassed. I just disappeared. And I think that that is what a lot of people tend to do when they’re in a time of crisis."

It can be difficult to know what to do if you’re worried that someone close to you is at risk of suicide. Our helpline is there for everyone, not only those in crisis, so you can call to find out more information on how you can help. You can also find support information on our worried about someone page, and our help section has information on particular issues.
