We need you stand with us against suicide

  • 125 people die by suicide every week in the UK

That’s 18 people a day. One every 90 minutes – the same amount of time as a football match (without all the extra time).

  • 200,000 suicide attempts per year

It’s a massive number. Just think of how many people could fill the O2 arena. Then times it by 10.

  • 28,000 calls come into our helpline every month.

That means we answer a call for help every 59 seconds. And demand keeps getting bigger. We don't want anyone to struggle alone.

  • 1 in 5 of us will have suicidal thoughts

CALM research shows that at least 1 in 15 of us will attempt suicide in our lifetime and 1 in 5 of people will have suicidal thoughts.

  • Suicide is the biggest killer of 15-39 year olds

Suicide is the biggest killer in men under 50. The suicide rate for women under 24 has seen the steepest increase since records began.

  • 69% of students struggle with their mental health

Stand against suicide

  • In 2023 our helpline staff gave more than 3 million minutes of support.

That’s 3 million+ minutes of helping someone struggling. 3 million+ minutes spent finding a way forward together. 3 million+ minutes of life-saving conversations.
